In the last class, I did my presentation to 4 people in two times.
Here are my feedback on my presentation and also on class mates' I listened.
1. How did this exercise help you improve your communication skills?
Through this exercise, I learned that it was very important to see others' faces to manage the interview or the presentaion. It sometimes happened that the interviewees or the audience could not understand what I meant. For such case, I think I should rephrase that part until they can make sense, and I tried as much as I could. Interviews and presentations require a kind of communication between givers and takers so that especially givers (interviewers or presenters) should not think only finishing their task and should try to pace with the lsteners.
2.What advice can you give class mates about poster design?
I attended to 2 presentations.

used circle graphs so that it was easy for me to understand the interview result, but I thought it would be better to add some other information such as about interviewees or your analysis.

used the whole poster very effectively!
put a graph and some pictures with colours.
although there was much information, I could understand your poster easily.

Question Order & About Interviewees
Finally, I've decided the question order.
I will ask like this order:
1→3→5→6→4→2
Through this interveiw, I want to know how people think about cloning when they consider it as a problem happened to themselves.
I think people tend to have the wrong image toward cloning so that I expect that there are various answers (if I can ask to many people:) )
About interviewees, I am planning to ask these questions to people in different countries by e-mails. Because I have already discussed it with my Japanese classmates and I come to get interested in the opinions from different countries or cultures.
Whether there is a difference or not, I would like to know how the foreign people think!!

Interview Questions on Cloning
In the last class, I asked Miku and Ryota to give me some advise for my interview questions. They told me a lot of advise that I couldn't come up with when I was making my questions. So, I would like to write about the interview questions that I decided to ask at this moment. But if someone saw this blog and had some other advise, please comment me!!:)
1. What kind of image toward "cloning" do you have? Where did you get that information?
2. Do you think human cloning should be prohibitted?
3. If your precious child sudenly died, would you want to have the child again by cloning?
→Yes. For what reasons or purposes? Do you expect your cloned child to have the same memory or some other things?
4. If cloning is generally permitted, what kind of problems or benefits for society do you think will occur?
5. Do you agree that cloning should be applied to humans?
6. Do you agree that cloning should be applied to making parts of body such as organ?
Maybe, if I ask all of these questions, I will change the question order. But I haven't decided yet.

In-Class Interview on Bioethics
On December 14th, I had an interview to my CM classmate during the class to practice for the coming "Poster Presentation". The question I asked was that "If you could genetically engineer your child, would you do so? Why or why not?"
To this question, Hitomi replied "No" because of the following reasons. Firstly, using genetic enginerring itself is against the law of nature so that she is against it. Second, if she applied the technology, her child will lose the original characteristics. In addition, the child's life will greatly change.
During the interview, I felt that it is a little bit difficult because interviewing is a kind of interacting between an interviewer and an interviewee. When I ask a question to someone with some expectations, however, s/he doesn't always response in a way like what I expected. Furthermore, I think interviewers have to show their understandings toward what interviewees said and comment about it, and then ask another question according to the responses. At the same time, it was also true that I enjoyed the difficulty!!
To Hitomi's comments, I have the opposite idea about genetic engineering. If I were asked the same question, I would answer "Yes" because my future child would be save his/her life from the certain desease if I would apply the technology. I thought it was quite natural to think that every parents wish their children to be healthy.
Through this interview, I learned that there cannot be only one answer to this question about genetic engineering. The topic is so controversial that we should consider about it in every possible case which may occur.

Human Cloning
My current interest on the specific area about bioethics is "human cloning" because I had a little discussion about it in the ARW class.
When you hear the word "human cloning", what image do you have in your mind? Do you agree with it or not?
As for me, firstly I think that it is not good to apply that technology to humans, since there can be some problems. I can understand that it should be permitted only in the use of helping people because the technology seems very useful and helpful when it is used properly, however; I think that it will surely be used in a bad way if we allow the exception.
In the next submission, I would like to write about the possible problems which I can come up with when the technology is used in the wroing way.
